FPTA Member Profile - Brenda Dome
This month we are featuring Florida International University’s Director of Administrative Services for Parking, Sustainability & Transportation, Brenda Dome. Learn about Brenda’s FPTA experience, as well as how FIU has managed recent industry experiences. Brenda also serves on the FPTA Board of Directors.
How long has your organization been a member of FPTA?
Florida International University has been a long-standing member prior to my joining the organization in 2011. Two past presidents originated from our organization.
How did you become involved with FPTA?
At the time I joined FIU, my supervisor was president of the organization. As acting president, he asked me to join his board meetings. Parking was new to me as my background was in the legal field. It was his way of bringing me in to the world of parking. I was appreciative of this opportunity and have enjoyed participating in the organization ever since.
What is your organization’s return-to-the-workplace plan (if not already back)?
Our university has transitioned to a post-COVID next normal with a healthy university as our top priority protecting ourselves and our Panthers through our Healthy Living habits. Faculty, staff and students are required to complete a safety screening questionnaire through our P3 app, Panthers Protecting Panthers, prior to reporting to campus each day. This app also serves to educate and inform our FIU community on COVID-19.
What was your impression of work from home before this situation? What is it now?
Our team worked diligently to set ourselves up for a successful remote operation which was carefully planned to for a seamless transition. Our call center operations continued remotely operating Monday-Friday from 7am-9pm supporting our FIU community as needed. As essential personnel, certain staff members remained on campus to assist as needed in maintaining our facilities while the administrative team worked remotely. Due to the nature of our operation and the services we provide, our community is best served when our team supports operations while on campus.
What are you most hopeful about right now?
Our University is pleased to transition to a post-COVID next normal operations and to continue to serve our students and our FIU community.
