Elizabeth Brown
Title
Business Director
Organization
Tech Painting Company, Inc.
What is your role and how does your organization contribute to parking, transportation, and mobility in Florida?
I’m the Business Director at Tech Painting. I focus on making sure our projects run efficiently, everything from workflows and risk management to making sure what we’re delivering actually works for the client in the real world.
A lot of what we do supports parking and mobility without always being front and center. Striping, coatings, and wayfinding sound simple, but they directly impact safety, traffic flow, and how people move through a space. When it’s done right, things just work better for both drivers and pedestrians.
What is your favorite part about being a member of FPTA?
Hands down, the relationships.
It’s a group of people who actually understand the day-to-day challenges of the industry, and there’s a willingness to share knowledge and help each other out. That’s not always the case in every industry, so it stands out.
What’s one challenge the industry is facing, and one opportunity you’re excited about?
A big challenge is keeping safety consistent as spaces get more complex and more heavily used. You’ve got more cars, more pedestrians, and more mixed-use environments than ever, and if markings and wayfinding aren’t clear, it creates confusion pretty quickly.
On the flip side, I’m really interested in how design and technology are starting to work together. There’s a real opportunity to be more intentional about how we guide people through spaces, making things more intuitive instead of reactive.
How are you addressing seasonal demand, tourism, or special events in your operation?
It really comes down to planning ahead and staying flexible.
We work closely with facility teams to schedule around peak times, and we phase projects so we’re not disrupting operations more than necessary. A lot of times that means nights or weekends, just to keep things moving without getting in the way.
What’s something the industry often overlooks that deserves more attention?
Preventative maintenance, especially when it comes to protective coatings and traffic membranes.
By the time you can see damage, it’s usually been developing for a while. Getting ahead of it makes a big difference in how long a structure lasts and avoids bigger issues later.
What innovations or changes are you most excited to see in the near future?
A more connected approach to parking, where design, durability, and technology work together to create safer, more intuitive environments.
It is an exciting shift toward thinking beyond just parking spaces to the overall experience.
