How the City of Hallandale Beach Used Remote Enforcement to Improve Mobility, Sustainability, and Compliance
For years, parking enforcement in the City of Hallandale Beach was a game of cat-and-mouse. Officers patrolled between the city’s busiest beach properties, issuedmanual citations, and returned hours later to find new parking violators gone.
In partnership with gtechna, the city launched a phased remote enforcement program using License Plate Recognition (LPR) technology and a Ticket-by-Mail enforcement model, making enforcement more efficient and safer for both staff and the public.
Phase 1 introduced fixed LPR cameras to off-street parking areas and doubled monthly citation revenue. Without the burden of navigating traffic to reach the busiest beach properties, the parking enforcement unit was able to realign its priorities and focus onquality-of-life infractions and educating the community.
Following the success of Phase 1, the wheels are in motion for Phase 2, which will extend enforcement to curbside zones with vehicle-mounted LPR cameras.
Results and behind-the-scenes insights will be shared at the FPTA Conference, whereattendees can connect directly with gtechna experts and technology partners at Booth26.
